Waalweg Algund im Meraner Land

Algunder Waalweg trail

The Algunder Waalweg Trail is a two-part, 5 to 6 kilometer long hiking trail that leads along the irrigation channel (water channel). The canal trail is almost flat. This makes it ideal for older people or families with children. Hikers, whether young or old, are rewarded with a breathtaking view of Lagundo and the entire Meraner Land.

There are wonderful vantage points here that let your gaze wander over the entire Adige Valley.

Tour details

The western part begins at the parking lot in front of the “Töllgraben” Bridge. The starting point is easily accessible with the Lagundo-Parcines bus or in your own car. The Waalweg leads over the two districts of Lagundo Plars di Sopra and Plars di Mezzo to the picturesque Lagundo center. From there it continues through beautiful vineyards to the Quarazze district of Merano, to the little church of St. Magdalena. Depending on your wanderlust, you can continue on the Tappeiner Promenade to the center of Merano or back to Lagundo.
